I have two kids in this school; one in 5th grade and one in 2nd. I can't say nothing but great things about every single one of all the teachers that both my kids have had. The principal does an excellent job at keeping parents involved and communicating changes and all things going on. If you are looking for a great school for your kid (s), this is it!!

Im have to commend the staff at Tulsa Street Elementary. I have seen growth & maturity in my son. Tulsa helps out children become responsible for their own actions. I love how they emphasize the importance on children coming to school on time. This school builds charActer. Which in my belief now-a-days children shouldnt go with out.

I attended and graduated from Tulsa Elementary School in '97. Once I graduated from High School and attended my first year at CSUN and majoring in Child Development, I decided to work at Tulsa Street School. This is an amazing school, with amazing teachers and staff who really care about their students and their achievement in school.

I am the parent of a 1st grader at Tulsa elementary. This is his second year and I have to say that the teachers and staff have truly exceeded my expectations. His 1st grade teacher is Mrs. Basch and she is more than amazing. She takes a great interest in each childs learning and is on top of working with parents and the school to make sure they receive all the neccessary help needed to succeed.

If you like social engineering, this is the school for you. Way over-rated. This school does not have after school for K5 students (unless you don't mind being put on a waiting list with 30 other students). If you are ever late dropping off your child, be ready to explain to him or her that he or she will be punished for you dropping him or her off late by having to sit in the library during his or her recess -- what a great lesson to teach a child: if someone else is the cause, you will be punished instead.

I am a parent of 3rd grader and a 2nd grader attending Tulsa. I am just impressed how teachers and the principal with the help of the parents working together to help the children in terms improving their grades. I love their intervension programs that aims to improve the students academically. My kid had just finished attending Saturday class and I have witnessed the huge improvement on him. He has gained confidence in reading which he was not prior to that. Surely, this school is a great kept secret of Granada Hills!

Tulsa is really the 'best kept secret in Granada Hills.' I have a 3rd and 1st grader at Tulsa, both high achievers. This will be my son's third year and my daughter's second year. I was a little hesitant to send my kids to a public school after all the horror stories I'd heard from other parents and their public school experiences. I decided to go ahead and try it for one year. Well my kids have been there 3 years now, and I love it. The teachers are the best, the staff is amazing and their PTA is great. Parent involvement is high. Everyone is friendly, caring and always striving for academic success as well as helping kids become good well rounded human beings.

I'm pulling my two highly gifted children out of the SAS program at this school, which has continued to miss the mark and disappoint. We just can't wait around anymore for the big fix. The biggest problem in the school the last few years appears to be lack of consistancy: teachers taking too much time off for personal reasons and trainings during instructional time, too many teachers bouncing grade levels, too few teachers using District-encouraged methods for teaching gifted (Javits/Kaplan) while others aren't, some great families and children overshadowed by far too many awful ones... The best of the upper grade SAS teachers have either left or aren't teaching SAS anymore and really should be. Considering that this is one of the oldest SAS elementary schools in the Northridge/Granada Hills area, after six years there is the expectation that they should be able to do better.

I would like to say that Tulsa is a great school. Our teachers are exceptional and I don't for a second feel that they have deviated from their main goal, our children. Parents at Tulsa care about this school and bring a positive attitude.

Tulsa is a great school, it is in the top 10 in the API score, due to the hard effort the teachers give their students. My oldest just culminated and we are so happy to see how well she developed there. The staff is caring and giving. Also many many thanks to Kathy who is a true hero to the school giving so much of her own time.

Tulsa is a wonderful neighborhood school. I have taught here for three years. We have dedicated, caring teachers and a well-balanced mix of kids. We teach to all levels, with special programs for GATE as well as English-language learners. Many children of the staff have or do come through Tulsa, to me, if we are willing to have our own children go here-that says something. Having seen many LAUSD schools ours is one of the most bright and beautiful! And we actually have grass on the playground! The teachers are always on the cutting edge of teaching and learning, going to many different trainings. It is also a great work environment, the staff is very professional and gets along well, most of us actually enjoy coming to work! I wouldn't hesitate to bring my own daughter here for a top-notch education!

I love Tulsa, my child is at balboa because of father now, and let me tell you biggest mistake i ever did is allow that to happend, the hype about that school is overrated, and the teachers are cold. it's depressing, i cant come back beacuse of custody with child, but if i ever had a regret it was leaving TULSA, and tulsa is no less than them other schools, it's just divers, trust me if you want your child to excell and love school, stay here, if just want to have theB* name then go, but you will hate yourself for it. just remember, is this for the better of your child or you.. if its for you than go, if its for your baby, tulsa is the one.......i loved tulsa, miss evrything about it, and i know my child has been to 5 different schools...no other compares.

My daughter is currently attending Tulsa. The school has a nice atmosphere over all. The ladies in the office have improved their attitude greatly. Teacher's are awesome!!! Only down fall, it seems a bit unorganized. Overall a good school. Great after school and extra carricular programs.

This is my daughter's first year at Tulsa and the school is well organized and very helpful. The educational aspect of the school is so much more established than the school my daughter came. The PTA has great parent participation and very informative. Tulsa has a lot of activities and programs for the children and parents. My daughter loves Tulsa and that really make my wife and I very happy.

It's the best kept secret in Granada Hills. I have twin who have been in seperate classes since Kinder. Their teachers have been great. They both have had the same excellent care. They are both excelling in the classroom. Currently both are in SAS classes. Even though they have had different teachers they are both working at the same level. They have done outsanding on the test scores, both scoring above the 90th percentile in both english & math. The teachers do a great job working together and staying on the same page. The school is not overcrowded and their is a good mixture of races. Tulsa makes learning fun. Tulsa has great family support.

The best way to know if the school and teachers/staff are good is when the student is motivated to learn. My son has been in Tulsa since kindergarten, he has this great love and hunger for learning which has been continually nourished by the teachers and staff of Tulsa Elementary. I can definitely say that Tulsa ES is the BEST!!

Every teacher truly cares about their students learning and well-being. The PTA is very involved and support the classroom by donating computers and the busses for fieldtrips. The principal is caring and just received a plaque on the Teacher's Walk of Fame. What a great school!!

My wife has taught at Tulsa Elementary for more than a decade. During that time I have watched her grow significantly as a person, much in part due to her relationships with Tulsa s students, parents, faculty and staff. All contribute to the remarkably nurturing, upbeat and yet serious-minded school culture that I have watched her internalize and become a part of. We are both very grateful that she has been able to practice her profession among good, dedicated people who work hard to cultivate both minds and hearts. Unfortunately, out of misplaced modesty, she has asked that I withhold my name.

I am a grandparent of one of the students at Tusls Elementary. My granddaughter has attended Tulsa since Kindergarten and is now in the 5th grade. I have been very impressed with the quality of teaching staff, and the leadership of those in the office. I am amazed by all of the Tulsa fundraisers held to help our kids but, what impresses me most about it, is that all of the teachers and well as office staff including Mrs. Molter and Miss. Dixon attend each one. If that is not supporting our kids, I don't know what is. As a matter of fact they are very involved with all of the Tulsa activities. This to me says a lot about their character and the love and care they have for our children. I would reccommend Tulsa to any parent who was looking to send their kids to a first rate school. Thank you....I only hope my granddaughter has the same kind of care and love for kids at her next school as Tulsa gave her.

Tulsa is a culturally diverse school yet still maintains a close-knit family atmosphere. We have some of the most dedicated teachers, and the Pre-SAS/SAS programs are amazing. From the principal to the custodial staff, everyone is friendly and welcoming to the parents and the students. The teachers strive to challenge the students in the classroom and encourage them to think outside the box. The parents respond in kind by supporting the kids and teachers in furthering student education outside the classroom whether at PTA functions or assemblies, or field trips. We love Tulsa St. Elementary...still the best kept secret in Granada Hills!

Tulsa is a top notch school where the interest is in teaching the whole child. While we excel at academics, we enrich our curriculum with character education, classes in the arts and other experiences for our students. Of all the schools I've visited or worked in, Tulsa students are the most polite and well-adjusted children. This reflects the teaching that is going on at Tulsa. The children are happy to be there, the parents are happy to be there, the teachers, staff and administrators are happy to be there. Tulsa is an all around outstanding school on every level.

This school just continues to get better and better over the last 4 years. The SAS teachers especially are really on the ball. When the local gifted magnet school sends their teachers to learn from your school, then you know you must have something really wonderful going on! The art, science, field trip enrichment opportunities, and team teaching being done with the first graders this year have really enhanced my children's learning and help them to become more well-rounded. This school has the best support staff with special education and gifted coordinators that really listen and go to bat for the kids. SC

The principal, her staff and the teachers are excellent. The principal cares about the quality of education and it shows. She [has] children recite the school motto, relating to accessing and using information at each, weekly assembly. The staff works to assure that, truly, 'no child is left behind.' My child's teacher shows caring for her students and assesses their strong points as well as weaknesses fairly and accurately. I am extremely impressed.
